Everything Flax Crackers & Vibrant Beet Hummus

Lately,  I’ve been putting everything seasoning on well, everything. The seasoning mixture that you’re probably accustomed to having on your bagel, actually tastes amazing on just about anything. I decided to make some omega packed flax crackers with everything seasoning and they tasted great with my tried and true beet hummus recipe.



Everything Seasoning:

  • •2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • •2 tablespoons poppy seeds
  • •1 tablespoon dried minced onion
  • •2 teaspoons dried minced garlic
  • •2 teaspoons coarse sea salt


Stir together all ingredients and make sure each component is evenly distributed.

Flax Crackers:

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup flax seeds
  • 1/3 cup chia seeds
  • 1/3 cup pepitas
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tbsp everything seasoning



First off, heat the oven to 200 degrees F. Next, add water, flax seeds, and chia seeds to a bowl and stir to combine. Let sit for about 10 minutes and then add the rest of the ingredients. Let soak for about 30 minutes until the flax seeds and chia seeds have become gelatinous, you will have a semi gooey mixture akin to chia pudding. Pour the mixture onto a parchment lined baking sheet, spread it out as thinly as possible and place into the oven. To get crunchy flax crackers, you want to cook these on a low temperature for a long time. Cook for about 3 hours and then check on the crackers, if you still see moisture when you lift up the crackers, keep them in the oven. I kept mine in for around 5 hours and they were perfect. Remove from the oven and break them up into crackers. Top with more everything seasoning if you’d like.

Beet Hummus:

  • •1 peeled raw beet
  • •4 cloves of garlic
  • •1/3 cup tahini
  • •1/3 cup olive oil
  • •1/2 tsp sea salt
  • •1/4 tsp cumin
  • •juice of one lemon


In a processor or high speed blender, process garlic lemon juice and beet until finely chopped. Next, add olive oil, tahini, cumin and sea salt and process until fully combined. Add about 1/2 tbsp as needed until you have a creamy consistency.
